What was the title of the exhibition/show?
Hokusai - Beyond The Wave

Why did you choose to attend this exhibition/show?
Because Hokusai was the very first Manga artist!

Who were the artists and what do they create?
The exhibition was about hokusai’s work. He created lots of different stiles and painting and wood block print.

What did you see?
I saw lots of different styles of which he created, how the colours of his work faded over time. Such as the wood print colours.

What were your first impressions, and your overall impressions of the presentation/layout/screening/ performing of the artwork?
The first thing I noticed at the event was the amount of people there. Lots of which were japanese, (I knew this as when I held the door for some people they said ‘arigato’ witch is japanese for thank you. I did reply but they didn't hear me..)

Did you find anything particularly interesting to your personally?
Yes. I really liked the two waves which were similar to the great wave but they were more like spirals but on separate canvases.

What did you learn which will help you to achieve your challenge?
I learnt that there are lots of different styles of drawing manga, and how it changed throughout the years. Hokusai’s style uses small eyes and lots of thin lines to make up the characters bodies. However the most popular stile today has big eyes and faces with small bodies.

Did you enjoy the experience overall? why?
I really loved the event. It wasn’t just about Hokusai’s amazing work I was also able to see other family members which I don't see very often and so we were able to look and enjoy his work together.6f9e503b62aa1ace680454c24df78bbf819cd322.jpeg7e720859c72949388ae162c5fd0fd57f3651c6fb.jpeg2cd5d847f84b5970c9863f3df0a4a10f1ed7e192.jpeg76954b7388018a6294ee3089f43b0c730771ca0b.jpeg

    Thanks for your review J!

It is always great to see the works of artists that can inspire you. Was there any artwork by him that made you want to try for yourself? Different styles, techniques, etc?
