My experience at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest - silver arts award review

The Heroes and Villains Fan Fest is a convention where you get behind the scenes access to the actors and actresses of comic -inspired tv shows such as The Walking Dead, Arrow, The Flash and Riverdale. I attended this year in May at the Olympia in London. One of the main events are the panels where the audience members sit in a hall with a main stage. The actors and actresses talk about their experiences in the industry and what its like to be on set, as well as giving advice to people wanting to make it in the industry. You also have the opportunity to ask them questions and meet them which is a very exciting experience.

My experience at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest - silver arts award review

This was my first time going to a convention and it is definitely an experience I will never forget. A word of advice - definitely  get there early so you can get the best seats, which luckily my friend and I did. We got seats really close to the front, which was an advantage since the sound on the microphones weren't the loudest so people further back would've found it harder to hear. Despite that. what I loved was the immediate warm welcome from the actors and actresses on the panel and how energetic and funny they were. I went to two panels - the Arrow panel and the Riverdale panel. In both, the actors and actresses spoke about their love of acting and why they decided to choose that as their career, as well as the highs and lows of their job, which is really helpful for people wanting to have a career in acting. My favourite panel was definitely 'The Arrow' panel, as I've been a fan of the show for years, so having the opportunity to meet the cast was amazing. During the panel, Emily Bett Rickards (she plays one of the main characters on the show) told her story of how she got into acting and gave advice to people aspiring to make it in the industry. Learning about what life is like on set and how acting changed her life was really interesting to hear. The best part for me was getting to go up and ask them my own question, especially because I'm a huge fan of theirs so I was so excited. Overall it was such an amazing experience and I would 100% recommend it to anyone who loves comic-inspired TV shows and would love to meet the casts and find out more about what it's like to be a successful actor in the industry.

I'm happy you enjoyed it, Shania! It sounds like it was a great opportunity to meet your favourite actors and gain some knowledge. What were some of the questions you asked? And what do you think was the most important piece of information you learned that day?
