Jack Chisnall and Joshua Dolphin are, in a word, bonkers. As a result, so is this show. And it’s absolutely brilliant.
They start by ordering a curry. The menu appears on the screen, showing the choices of mildness for a korma. Do we want Extra, Extra Mild, or Cloud? Are we ordering poppadoms or just gambling on them coming anyway? It’s a truly genius piece of observational comedy that starts the show on a hilarious note, which just continues with each following sketch.
The sketches are short, original and pricelessly funny. Mundane, everyday concepts become incredible short scenes featuring Cadbury’s taste testers, Dennis the Menace and a game of hide and seek that goes on slightly too long. A one man production of King Lear and a hosepipe dealer take the prize for me, but every sketch is on point, and you find yourself helplessly laughing at their absurd thought processes and flawless performances.
The momentum is, sadly, a little lost in the last 15 minutes or so. The sketches are still funny, but they are longer scenes that don't quite pack the same punch as the short, snappy ones earlier on. That said, it’s still a show that is completely worth seeing, and bucket loads of fun throughout. Chisnall and Dolphin have a natural talent for comedy and will undoubtedly have you in stitches.
