According to Angelica

This engaging performance grabs you from the first moment as the audience meet Angelica, a lady who was once the nurse to Juliet Capulet. The very same nurse from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. This simply staged production offers an entirely new angle to the well-known tale, filling in the beginning and the end that we as the audience have never seen before.

Angelica began life as a young performer, travelling the world with her family's troupe and entertaining all from folk like herself to the highborn rich in their large houses. We learn of her past, her loves and her journey to Verona. Soon the feud between the Capulets and Montagues invades her life and the tale we all know begins. However, we are soon welcomed through the servant's door and witness the story through Angelica's eyes.

A beautifully unique piece, Mjka Scott's ability to capture the audience is evident from the start. Her powerful stage presence combined with her delightful script, leads the audience through the streets of Verona and deep into the background of Shakespeare's tale. Scott's "motherly" attitude creates a warm relationship as she reveals the truth of her life. Joining her nurse for a select few scenes is Juliet played by Sylvana Montoya. The working relationship between these two actors is wonderful to watch, only emphasising Angelica's love and care for her ward.

This performance has clearly been created by someone who loves Shakespeare but can be enjoyed by any audience member. No need to worry about shakespearean language that might confuse the less experienced Shakespeare goer, Angelica speak in the common tongue, yet she is no common lady.
