Review of Matthew Bourne's 'The Red Shoes'

I am going to review Matthew Bourne's 'The Red Shoes', which is based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen and the plot of the 1948 film 'The Red Shoes' which has now been interpreted by Matthew Bourne as a contemporary ballet.

Review of Matthew Bourne's 'The Red Shoes'

I really enjoyed the performance, I thought it was very professional and entertaining. I chose 'The Red Shoes' because I find the story interesting and different. I like the way Bourne interpreted the story and how he choreographed it as a contemporary ballet; I thought this made the ballet more interesting as it allowed the choreography to be very dynamic and different.

I enjoyed 'The Red Shoes' very much as the narrative teaches us to love dance and shows how powerful and life-changing it can be. The dance company were incredible and their movement and emotion helped tell the story. The quality of the show was very good as the set, costumes, music, and lighting were all very professional and ballet itself was well rehearsed.

It has influenced me by showing a different and more free style of ballet. It has shown different movements that are not very common in classical ballet, this will help broaden my choreographic style. The dancers have influenced me by showing how to tell a story with your face, emotions and actions when performing on stage.

It's interesting to read about ballet taking a more modern direction. Great review!
