Out now via forgood music, The Dinosaur’s Skin is a quirky, lo-fi anthem born from cosmic chaos, prehistoric sorrow, and modern-day soul-searching.
Formed by time-traveling vocalists Trex and Triceratops—purportedly the last two dinosaurs on Earth—the band blends satire with sincerity, channeling their extinction-era grief into rich sonic textures. Their latest track is a laid-back, dreamy swirl of jangly guitar riffs, groovy basslines, and smooth percussion, elevated by ethereal harmonies contributed by collaborators from Nigeria. The result is a sound that’s equal parts melancholic and whimsical, like Dinosaur Jr. crash-landing into an indie dreamscape.
Musically, The Dinosaur’s Skin continues to blur genres with ease, fusing elements of bedroom pop, indie rock, synth pop, and lo-fi. The use of detuned guitars, tape-delay vocals, and toy-like synths gives the track its signature “twisted Jurassic dream” vibe—oddly nostalgic, slightly absurd, and wholly captivating.
With lyrics that reflect on identity, survival, and the universal search for belonging, the duo delivers more than a gimmick. There’s genuine heart beneath the prehistoric scales.
Catch them at The Alternative Great Escape on Thursday, 15th May, where they’ll perform live in the UK for the very first time. If their recorded sound is anything to go by, expect a show that’s as bizarrely brilliant as their origin story.
