Live Show Review - We're All Doomed

“Prepare for a night of savage self-deprecation, soul-searching, Dan over-sharing his deepest fears and desires, and joins a community of doomers to feel good in the final days.”

Live Show Review - We're All Doomed

We’re All Doomed is a comedy show created and performed by internet personality Daniel Howell. The intent of the show is to spread some joy to the world by discussing all the negative things that are happening in the world by injecting some of the humour and sarcasm Dan uses in his content which the fans would love and maybe some newcomers too. Some of the topics covered in the show include social media, data harvesting, conspiracies, captablism and the climate crisis.

I didn’t go to any of the live events, instead I bought a virtual ticket which allowed me to watch it live on YouTube on the 25th February 2024. People who watched the live stream also got access to the show for another 48 hours but then it was made publicly available on the 28th April.

I attended the event because I have been a fan of Dan for nearly ten years and, apart from watching clips of comedians at shows on TikTok, I’ve never seen a comedy show in its entirety. Also something tragic happened to me personally just two weeks prior to the show’s premiere and I needed a pick me up so what better than to watch a comedy show by my favourite YouTuber to cheer me up, which really did help at the time. Another reason why I attended the show is because I’m very passionate about a lot of the topics which were covered in the show.

What I really like about the show is that Dan would talk about all the issues the world is facing very seriously but then made jokes about it which is basically the whole show anyway so I suppose the concept of the show works. Some people may not be a fan of all the swearing or adult jokes which this show is full of so it's not for everyone and definitely not for children. My favourite part of the show is when Dan started a segment called The Blame Game. The premise of the game is that Dan is a judge and the audience are the jury, where they have to decide whether the celebrity being presented on screen gets “fired into the sun” or “freedom”. The celebrities being presented are already incredibly very unpopular so it was hilarious seeing people like Elon Musk, JK Rowling and Piers Morgan on there and then Dan talking about why they’re disliked with a joke.

What I learnt from the event is that it’s still possible to find joy in all the rubbish parts of today’s world, even so by spending it with a community you belong to.

If anyone follows politics and or is interested in social change, the show is very much for you even if you have no idea who Dan is. On top of all that, it’s now free!
