BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Finalists Exhibition

BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Finalists Exhibition

On Saturday 9th November 2024, I went to the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Finalists Exhibition with my family.

The Exhibition showcases the work of many talented photographers from around the world.  Most photos contains an animal of some kind, but a few were just landscapes.

Each of the photos were grouped into certain categories, with each category displayed on a different partitional wall.  In each category there was one photo that had won.  Some of the categories included Movement, Animals In Their Environment, Oceans, and Under 16 Years of Age.  Under each photo there was a description of how it was taken, and where in the world it was taken.  It was interesting to see the variations of wildlife throughout the world.  Some places looked like they could have been Britain, but weren't.  All the photos were really good, and very inspiring.

My favourite photo was the leopard attacking the crocodile, because it looks like the crocodile is screaming and it looks funny.  But I also like the photo of the mussels on the rock because the colours look really nice together (being orange and blue).

My Arts Challenge is to learn to draw animals so I used this opportunity to practice what I have been learning.  However, I did not draw any of my favourite photos because it was quite crowded around them, so I couldn't sit to draw.  So instead, I drew my brother's favourite photo of a Stoat called Twist and Jump because it was also quite funny.

Overall, it was a good experience , and I enjoyed it a lot.  It was a good price (kids being fere) and it was easy to get to (we took a train into Birmingham).  The gift shop was also very cool but my mum said I couldn't buy a pen that made camera clicking noises when you pressed it, saying it was 'a waste of money'.  I disagreed.

Anyway, I would definitely recommend going there as it was very interesting and well organised.
