Kasabian are an English rock band formed in Leicester in 1997. Since then they have done 1,042 concerts with their most recent being their ‘Happenings’ tour where they performed some of their new music, along with their older classics.
I was lucky enough to see the first show of their Happenings tour on Friday 8th November 2024 at the BP Pulse Arena Birmingham.
The Streets who are an alternative/indie band are the support act for this tour. The streets did an outstanding job of setting the mood for the show; they came out with energy and made the crowd laugh whilst performing their unique music.
Kasabian came on after The Streets. They started off by playing the into of one of their new songs with just one band member on stage and by the time they got to the main chorus the rest of the band members were revealed by a curtain drop. This was a really powerful moment which got a lot of love from the crowd.
With each song performed, the lighting and stage changed which made the show different and exciting. With each lighting change, the crowd, and myself were excited to see what would happen on stage and what song was coming next.
As for the venue, it was large, hosting over 15,000 people. We were sat directly opposite the stage, but due to the large standing area in front of us, we were fairly far back. The stage is a decent size, although at times it was hard to see what was happening but luckily the large screens either side of the stage saved the day.
This tour was a had a brilliant balance of their new album, plus their older, more popular songs. Along with Kasabian’s diverse genres, I believe that anyone would enjoy this high energy, visually appealing and creative tour.
Kasabian toured the UK 8th Nov - 16th Nov
