2:22 Ghost Story
I visited Sunderland Empire as a last minute booking to see 2:22 Ghost Story with a cast of George Rainsford, Vera Chok, Fiona Wade & Aaron Dart.
I have been to this fantastic theatre before to see musicals and pantomimes but never to see a serious play.
The opening scene is a husband (Sam) and wife (Jenny) and their baby, they have recently moved into a new home, which they are renovating. They have invited friends Lauren and Ben over for a dinner party. The scene is set in the living room. The husband has recently returned from a work trip, he greets his wife and helps to get ready for the guests arriving, The house is very cold as the heating system is broken.
The guests arrive and chat begins between them all over drinks and dinner, the discussion begins about a theory that the house is haunted and stay up until 2:22 am to find out what will happen. The special effect lighting and sounds helps to contribute to the spooky atmosphere.
A very exciting thriller with lots of jump scares twists and turns along with laughs in the story, the audience could be heard screaming and laughing because of the scares and jokes its safe to say everyone had a thoroughly good time watching this show that kept you on the edge of your seat.
No spoilers as the cast asked you not to disclose anything about the ending but this is a show you must go and see to truly appreciate the storyline and the plot, the clues throughout do give hints to the twist at the end of the play but are not really noticeable until the end where you can piece it together.
I LOVED this play I was doubtful id like it at first but I ended up really enjoying it and I think this will be one of my favourites for a long time.
