Grace Mulvey: Tall Baby

A show that speaks directly to millennials.

Grace Mulvey: Tall Baby

We've all heard of personal trauma, and even generational trauma. But foot trauma? That's surely some millennial nonsense, right? Not according to award-winning Irish stand-up comedian Grace Mulvey, who enlightens a rain-soaked Sunday afternoon crowd at Assembly Roxy.

Post-pandemic, Grace treats herself to a transformative makeover. Fresh outfits, revamped eyebrows, an exorbitantly priced haircut, and even laser treatment for her foot. She quits her previous job and relocates to London to pursue a full-time comedy career.

This show encapsulates the clash of reality and fantasy, as Mulvey delves into the harsh disillusionment of dating and how London's astronomical costs are shattering her full-time comedy aspirations – compelling her to take on a second job. Then, someone breaks into her house.

The jokes flow in a consistent, unwavering stream, eliciting laughs almost without fail. Mulvey’s interaction with the audience, albeit limited, is impactful, and she masterfully engages the room to create a sense of inclusivity and warmth.

"Tall Baby" is a delightful bubblegum show. It's captivating in the moment with a pleasant, albeit brief, aftertaste. Have you ever declined gum? If not, then you shouldn't pass up the opportunity to see this show!
