Character Flaw is a fantastic piece of stand-up comedy where Pip takes the audience on a whirlwind tour of her mind. A self-described lesbian with dyslexia, Pip was diagnosed with ADHD later in life.
Pip is a captivating storyteller with a disarming honesty. She's not afraid to poke fun at herself, and some of her stories take unexpected turns, leaving the audience pleasantly surprised.
Despite the constant laughter, Pip also weaves in genuine education about her experience with ADHD. She sheds light on how ADHD can uniquely impact women and those assigned female at birth, and even explores how it affected her coming-out journey. One of the most thought-provoking parts explored the debate of medication versus alternative approaches to managing ADHD. This was a real eye-opener for me, prompting reflection on a topic I hadn't considered deeply before.
From the moment Pip stepped onto the stage, the sold-out crowd was hooked. The show is a fast-paced, witty rollercoaster that had me genuinely belly-laughing. Mirroring the nature of ADHD itself, Pip does jump between topics, but she always ensures each story reaches a satisfying conclusion.
I came into this show thinking I had a decent understanding of ADHD, but I left with a much richer perspective. Pip's humour and honesty create a powerful learning experience, making Character Flaw a must-see for anyone who wants to be entertained and enlightened.
