Bubble Show for Adults Only

It’s insane but incredible to see what can be done with bubbles – those little spheres you’d make with a pot and piece of plastic when you were a child.

Bubble Show for Adults Only

I highly recommend going to this show if you can stomach theatre with absurdity, a loose but compelling storyline and want to see what a ‘neo-burlesque’ show could be.

The show opens in a very playful manner, showing from the start that this is going to be an inventive production and demonstrating how bubbles can be an absolute work of art in their own right.

The two performers are affable, exhibit a level of frantic energy that must leave them exhausted, and are performing a show which has some unique, innovative and interesting devices – from what you’d expect of bubble liquid, to shadow puppetry, raunchy burlesque scenes and smoke filled bubbles.

The talent these performers exhibit with making the bubbles, blowing a variety of shapes and combining these with different thicknesses, smoked shapes and varying lightness which controls their floating or manipulation ability is astounding. I’ve never seen so many bubbles taking so many forms.

The bubble talent is complemented by the burlesque nature of the show - adding an adult twist to an atypical art – and enabling a level of story to be told that provided context for the bubbles to be made and indeed for it to last for an hour (with only the occasional thought of it being repetitive). The lighting and sound was used to great effect, bringing pzaz and focus to the show; another example of a great production in all its elements – which we know can be tough in the fast paced environment of the fringe.

Head to theSpace Triplex to experience this show, it should not be missed. Just don’t take your children (or your parents).
