Matilda the Musical

This was very exciting and included various aspects of dance that I am familiar with. The cast was mostly children so there was a range of group dances in various settings and atmospheres.

The most interesting part for me was the school dances as they included all the school children to dance in unison. For example, the ‘Revolting’ dance included the whole cast dancing around the classroom, using props to create a variety of movement. This was something that I do not normally do within my own contemporary dance and I found it interesting how they are able to use an object within the dance and performance to reflect what is happening and tell the story clearly.
