Charlotte Barber (musician, songwriter and music producer) and Jo Lane (writer, director and theatre-maker) are co-delivering a series of free online interactive workshops which aim to inspire and empower young people. Despite the local lockdowns, Charlotte and Jo would love to share their creative skills with young people and help give them a platform to share their views about their place in the world right now.
The 5 interactive workshops will run via Zoom on Thursday evenings 6-7.30pm starting on August 13th.
August 13th - Introductions/Exploring themes of identity, community and well-being
August 20th - Introduction to creative writing - spoken word/poetry and storytelling
August 27th - Introduction to visual storytelling - Photography/Filming techniques
September 3rd - Introduction to audio storytelling - voice work & soundscapes
September 10th - Introduction to basic film editing (free software on phones/computer)
Young people don't need to attend all 5 workshops if a specific element does not interest them, but the first session on August 13th is recommended to start the basis of exploration.
The young people will then be supported through further online one-to-ones or socially distanced support sessions, tailored to their piece of work they hope to create.
Basic sound and video equipment can be provided within the socially distanced support sessions if required. The work that is created will then be showcased via an interactive showcase on Zoom on Thursday 15th October 6-7.30pm to a small audience selected by the young people. All the work will then be edited into a self-contained film which can be showcased/screened online or in a local venue mid-November.
The deadline to register interest is Friday 7th August.
