If you're an aspiring poet aged 11-17, the Young People's Poetry Prize could be for you. By entering up to 10 poems, you could become one of 12 selected young people to attend the prize-giving event at Newcastle Poetry Festival, which takes place from May 13th-16th 2020.
Who can enter?
You must be:
- Aged 11-17 years old
- A UK resident
- Able to obtain permission from a parent or guardian.
What can I submit?
You must submit:
- Poems that are titled and do not exceed 40 lines in length
- Work that has not been published anywhere else
- Poems that are type-written, not handwritten
- Poems must be in English.
Who judges my entry?
The judge for this year's Young People's Poetry Prize is Vidyan Ravinthiran, author of poetry books Grun-tu-molani and The Million-petalled Flower of Being Here, which won a Northern Writers Award.
