Student Critics Competition

Open to students at UK schools, colleges and universities, our Student Critics Competition enables aspiring writers to attend the film festival as critics and develop their skills with professional mentors.

Student Critics Competition

Our Student Critics scheme aims to support the next generation of film journalists, offering experience, skills and networking opportunities to students with a passion for cinema.

Student Critics will attend screenings, receptions and events at EIFF 2017. They will be mentored by professional film journalists, creating articles throughout their time at EIFF (21 - 26 June). All travel and accommodation will be provided.

This opportunity is open to UK and Scottish students aged 18-25 and currently studying in the UK.

In recognition of this year's festival focus on Poland, we will also be selecting two Polish students studying in Poland to join our Student Critic team for this year's festival.

To apply send a 500 word essay or three minute vlog on a recent or classic film to [email protected] by 26 May 2017.

Please include the following with your application:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Matriculation Number
  • Institution of study and the name of your course.
