Awards for Young Musicians (AYM) exists because musical talent is everywhere but opportunity isn’t: family finances and other obstacles too often get in the way. AYM here to change this.
The Awards programme is open to UK instrumentalists, composers, songwriters and producers, whose families are on a lower income and who are aged 5 to 17. Each Award winner receives a grant, ranging from £100 to £2,000, to support their musical progression for a year. They also gain access to their programme of musical opportunities and networks.
AYM relaunched the Awards programme in 2021, moving from an annual deadline to a rolling-cycle and putting young people at the heart of the application process. Between 2022 to 2024, the number of young people they support through the programme will rise from 200 to around 400. They're also significantly increasing and diversifying the range of opportunities they offer to Award winners.
This new role presents an opportunity to develop a career in Grants and Arts Administration within a fast-growing and ambitious organisation. With support from the Awards Programme and Operations Manager you will be responsible for the administration of the application, adjudication and awarding processes. You will be the first point of contact for young people, parents/carers and music leaders. You will also support the administration of musical opportunities, including a monthly online events series, Awards Days, creative projects and partner opportunities. Whilst this is an administrative position, there will also be opportunities to gain other experience through involvement in events and fundraising.
You’ll be part of a fantastic team: collegiate, creative, dynamic, highly motivated, and resilient. They all work from home and meet regularly in person. Everyone works together closely to make the greatest possible difference to the lives of the young people AYM is here for. You can be based anywhere in the UK to apply for this position. A willingness to travel for meetings and events is important.
