Assistant Lighting Designer vacancy

Donmar are looking for a trainee assistant to work with their creative team on their upcoming production of Marys Seacole. They are looking for a lighting designer who has experience of creating your own work for student or fringe productions or small scale events OR recently completed a lighting course (graduating since summer 2019) – OR equivalent training experience. You will have a desire to pursue a career as a lighting designer and will be from a background underrepresented at the Donmar and in the wider theatre industry. They define this as artists from the global majority or who experience barriers and inequality due to ethnicity, gender identity and/or socio-economic background and as being D/deaf or artists who are disabled. Core Duties and Responsibilities – Assistant Lighting Designer

The role is an opportunity to shadow and assist the lighting designer, Jessica Hung Han Yun, during their work on the production. The tasks may include:

• Attending meetings with the design team
• Attending site visits with the Lighting Designer
• Attending rehearsals and production meetings
• Assisting with drawing lighting plans
• Assisting with rigging, focussing and plotting
• Being present at technical rehearsals and previews and assisting as necessary

The Production
Marys Seacole will be directed by Nadia Latif, with design by Tom Scutt, lighting design by Jessica Hung Han Yun , sound design by Xana and movement direction by T J Lowe.

Rehearsals start 7 March
Tech w/c 11 April
First preview 15 April
Press night 21 April
