How to build your own business and support your own art

Love making art? Paintings or Music? Theatre or film? Whatever it is, do you wanna start making some dollar off it?… (Or earning enough to get by?). Then join us for a Q&A with icons who are doing just that! We’ll be going through the highs and lows, and hearing of the inspiring resilience and self-care these creatives draw on to make their art a reality and get paid for it.

How to build your own business and support your own art

This will be a laidback zoom, where you can choose to either stay off-camera and just listen. Interact and ask questions on the chat. Or come on video, say Hello, ask directly and join the conversation… Why not get your name out there?. This Q&A will be facilitated by freelance performer and performance maker Octavia Nyombi, who creates within her queer feminist theatre company Category: Peach. And represents Nottingham Playhouse within ‘Connecting Notts’.

Featuring:

- Freelance Director and Creative Producer Hannah Stone, a leader in creating female-led work.

- Former Programme and Events Manager of ‘The Big House’ business support programme, and current CEO of the Creative Quarter Tamily Cookson.

- And Freelance Designer Katy Goodwin, representing herself and Freedom Foundation, who offers us a perspective from an NTU graduate diving into the arts and working as self employed.

When: Mon, 1 November 2021 6pm-7:30pm
