On the 26 February, socials marveled at the news that Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak were collaborating on a new project. They unveiled the news via social media, revealing an upcoming album and informing the world that their debut single "Leave The Door Open" is set to release on March 5.
“We locked in and made an album. The band’s called Silk Sonic. First song drops next Friday 3/5 [5 March],” Mars tweeted.
Shortly followed by Paak’s “WE MADE AN ALBUM!! YALL GET THE FIRST SONG NEXT FRIDAY 3/5!! ROCKET EMOJIS AND ALL THAT!!!!”.
This news came as a massive shock because 'An Evening With Silk Sonic' marks Mars’ first album since 24K Magic in 2016. His hiatus lasted five years, only featuring as a collaborator on songs like “Please Me” with Cardi B, and “Wake Up In Sky” alongside Gucci Mane and Kodak Black.
Reminiscent of 60s and 70s easy listening love songs, the new groove from the pair includes a one minute intro to the anticipated album and “Leave The Door Open”, a laid-back single that shows a strong start to this collaborative journey.
Alongside the vintage imagery, cryptic subliminals and special guest Bootsy Collins announced, we are left in anticipation for the full project to be released.
