Channel 4 and The TV Collective announce second Indie Accelerator Programme

Six indies have been selected to participate in the second Indie Accelerator Programme, run by Channel 4 and the TV Collective.

The six indies, Miran Media, Ratchet Ltd, Acclaimed Content Limited, Project Must Entertainment, Daddy’s SuperYacht Productions and Ten66 Television, were selected from over 60 companies that applied for the chance to receive leadership coaching from Industry Coach Remy Blumenfeld, as well be assigned a Channel 4 Commissioning Editor to work with throughout the year, who will help them develop their slate of ideas and advise them how to navigate Channel 4’s commissioning processes

The Channel 4 Indie Accelerator programme was founded in 2021, in partnership with The TV Collective to form a new approach to working with more production companies where the shareholders, the decision makers, or the creative leaders consist of those from a Black Asian and Ethnic Minority background (BAME). Channel 4 and The TV Collective second Indies Accelerator Programme is geared to champion unheard voices and to help ethnically diverse led Indies to be more established in the industry.

The Indie Accelerator is part of a long-term Channel 4 strategic plan to support more ethnically diverse-led production companies to secure commissions from the industry. The companies in the first programme had positive achievements and won several new commissions. Participating companies acknowledged that they benefitted and gained valuable insights, helping broaden and deepen the relationship with Channel 4.

Hopefully, at the end of this second programme, BAME will gain by being more established in the production industry.
