New Music Friday: Dig Two Graves

We speak to Josh and Kenny of Dig Two Graves, a band that chooses to keep fun at the heart of its musical creations. Voice interviewed the artists to explore their journey and new release ‘Deathspeaker’.

New Music Friday: Dig Two Graves

Could you first introduce yourself to the reader?

Josh: They already know who it is. Dig Two Graves up in this hoe.

Kenny: I like to blast beat[s] and pet cats.

What's the story behind your band name?

Josh: It was printed on a fortune cookie that I opened when Kenny and I were trailblazing out in Vegas.

How did the band/group first get together?

Josh: Kenny and I have been playing music together since we were kids. I met Mike at a philosophy convention while discussing Camus. Later on, Mike found Jesse’s modeling page on Instagram and we reached out.

If you could describe your group/band in three words what would they be?

Josh: Hot, steamy, delicious.

Kenny: Cute, melodic, powerful

Tell us about your latest release, and what makes this project different?

Josh: Our last release was a fire remix of our song “Wick.” Son of Michael hit ‘em with the sauce on that one. Our upcoming track though, the kids aren’t ready for. It’s called “Deathspeaker” and it drops May 7th.

Kenny: Get on those pre-saves!

Nothing in music is ever new but how do you try to keep your music, artistry and vibe original?

Josh: Our music is new, fresh, and hot. We keep it thick for the boys.

What would you say are your inspirations in music?

Josh: Kero Kero Bonito is the main one, but I also love Dir En Grey, The Gazette, Luna Sea. Basically any Nagoya Kei.

What is your creation process?

Josh: I open Guitar Pro and make love to it.

Kenny: I add very unnecessary and obnoxious drums to everything.

How do you remain motivated to create, and do you have any tips for budding artists?

Josh: Make cool stuff, lift heavy weights, and turn to God in times of tribulation.

What has been the highlight of your musical career to date?

Kenny: We sold out a venue in Brooklyn. That was sick.

Josh: Can’t forget that one time on tour in Milwaukee I got a free pizza from the venue.

Did you always want to do music and when did you start to take music seriously?

Josh: I’ve been playing guitar since birth. Just trying to get the bag to be honest.

Kenny: Right out of high school I knew I wanted to play drums for a living. Had no other ideas of what to do.

What should we expect to see from you in 2021?

Kenny: We’ve got a new single coming out in about a month. Keep an eye out.

Where can we find out more about the group/band?
