What are you up to in your creative work at the moment?
I graduated from the University of Lincoln with a drama degree in September 2018. Since graduation, I have been accepted onto a work placement with Harrogate Theatre working as an ASM for their youth theatre production of The Odyssey. I also work on a freelance basis for Leeds and Newcastle University for the school of medical education as a professional role play actor.
What are the highlights of your creative career to date?
My first entertainment job after University was working in a holiday park as a Stage Technician, operating lights and sound for a big variety of productions. This was a big achievement for me, as I had very little experience of working such high tech equipment!
What do you hope to be doing in five years?
Hopefully in the future, I wish to be working with children’s touring theatre companies across the UK for theatre in education as a production assistant.
Which level(s) of Arts Award did you do, and how did you use it to develop your creativity or skills?
I completed my Bronze and Silver Arts Award qualifications at college. I am currently working towards my gold arts award portfolio, and hope to train as an arts award adviser.
Would you say that Arts Award helped you to get where you are today? If so, how?
Definitely!! It allowed me to make contacts in the industry and develop my overall confidence!
What advice would you give to young people doing Arts Award who want to follow in your footsteps?
Be bold, try new things and have fun!! A career in the arts is tough, but don't give up!
