What goes on at Project.INC?

We catch up with Lisa, Director of Project.INC., who promote and provide Inclusive, Creative Learning for 11-19-year-olds. They deliver access sessions to learners who need extra support in exploring Art, Design and Creativity.

What goes on at Project.INC?

Im Lisa, Director here at Project.INC. I have the pleasure of working with fantastic teams to deliver quality Art Education, within our Arts and Heritage Buildings. We focus on reaching a wide and diverse cohort, supporting marginalized and isolated young people. We are an Inclusive Art education provider.

Our young people come to us weekly to work towards Arts Awards, GCSE or A-levels in Art and Design. They work on projects that involve partnerships with our Art Gallery and Museums, staff and spaces, current and upcoming collections and initiatives. Learners are currently working in partnership with APS Global design agency to create an animation that tells, ‘Their Stories” of their journey with Art and Project.INC.

Art and creative education are being squeezed out of our mainstream schools. That safe place to express yourself is being taken away. For some of our young people, Art and Creativity are the vehicles that will enable their personal growth and preparation for adult life, whether they progress into the Creative Industries or not. In our setting, we are able to offer this safe and creative space, supporting in particular young people with additional needs that require an alternative environment and approach. We can draw on the Creative Capital in and around our Bases, with Arts and Heritage Buildings.

We find our Arts Award offer supports and sits well with GCSE and A-level as a quality course for our Learners. We believe they should have the same opportunities as their Peers in Mainstream Schools. Arts Award allows us to offer this. We are currently working to open 4 additional Project.INC Bases in towns across Greater Manchester Next Year. In addition, we are growing our offer at each Base, to support Arts Councils Cultural education Challenge and widen reach.

Working as a social enterprise with the support of GMCVO and Nesta, we are confident we can reach as many young people as possible with Art!
