'You Gotta Be!' an inspiring performance of the Des'ree hit by 13 world-class artists from 9 countries.
The video was created to feature artists who were due to perform at the True Colors music festival 2020, which was cancelled due to Covid. True Colors are a charitable organisation producing events focussed on visibility and accessibility for those who have overcome adversity and challenges and to inspire those in similar circumstances. They aim to celebrate diversity and inclusivity around the globe regardless of geography or life experiences.
Created remotely with a diverse cast, the video features acts such as Mandy Harvey, whose performance on America's Got Talent earned Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer. Raul Midón, a Grammy-nominee who devoted his life to music after being told that blindness would make it impossible. Kenta Kambara, an accomplished aerial performer and dancer who performed in the 2016 Rio 2016 Paralympics closing ceremony. Signmark, the first deaf artist to be signed to a major record label, and Aliènette Coldfire, who placed third in France's Got Talent.
The video released worldwide on Monday, June 14, and has received a wonderful reception, including praise from the original recording artist of You Gotta Be Des'ree, who says:
"This is a truly powerful video - so invigorating and energising, elevating the sentiment of the song and its message. The artists' introductions at the end add even deeper resonance to their already inspiring performances."
More about True Colors Festival 2020/21
TCF is a long-running international festival of performing arts. They celebrate diversity and inclusion and embrace the fact that we are One World, One Family. They choose the arts as their platform for its power to move, inspire and heal. They know, as you do, that the lines of a song can open a heart, a musical note can make spirits soar, a subtle dance movement can convey all of the human experience and more.
As a festival, TCF brings people together to generate exchanges, innovation and creativity; and transform the way we relate.
Presented by The Nippon Foundation, TCF brings diverse artists and audiences together through concerts, documentaries, music videos, film screenings, children's programs, musicals, workshops and other activities. Since 2006, festivals have been organised in Southeast Asia and Japan, with more than 1,200 artists from more than 30 countries connecting with a global audience in almost 40 countries.
TCF invites you to journey with them and share and spread our consciousness of being One World, One Family.
