Creativity during lockdown: A series

Running out of things to watch on Netflix? Not to fear, because over the next few weeks I'll be bringing you a series of interviews with creatives who have been performing online to satiate your lockdown boredom.

Creativity during lockdown: A series

It has been five weeks and counting since the government issued a nationwide lockdown. Only going out for essentials, or our sanctioned one-hour-a-day walk leaves us with a good chunk of the day fairly unoccupied. While we are indoors, we're constantly looking for new ways to keep entertained, as there is only so much Netflix a person can watch, only so many books we can read, and only so many recipes we can try in a day.

With all gigs and shows cancelled until further notice, we are finding ourselves craving the artistry that we love. Whether your fancy is concerts at the O2, gigs in the upstairs of a pub, or taking in a show at the West End, I'm sure we're all praying for the day that we can immerse ourselves in the creative world.

Until then, luckily for you, artists have taken to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to perform for us from the comfort of our sofas, beds, dining tables – well, wherever you want really as long as it’s indoors! From poets to singers, authors to illustrators, creatives are not letting lockdown get the better of them, and they are taking us on that journey as well.

Over the next few weeks, I will be conducting interviews with some talented creatives who are here to keep us entertained for as long this lockdown persists. So far, interviews include Artistic Director of The Big Telly Theatre Company, Zoe Seaton, and award-winning poet Luke Wright.

If you want to get involved in the ‘Creative Lockdown’ series or know of anyone who's doing great things to bring joy to others, reach out to me on Instagram @sincerely_saskia or Twitter @sincerely_sas for consideration. Keep an eye out on @voice.extra on Instagram and Twitter for the latest piece.
