Theo was nominated by his teacher for his Artistic Achievement with drums in Rock and Pop. They said they nominated Theo 'for developing his musical approaches to jazz and working so hard for his grade 8. Theo has surpassed our expectations with the mark he achieved.'
In what ways would you say your Rock and Pop qualification has influenced your artistic achievement, creativity, leadership or progress?
Succeeding in my recent grade 8 has increased my confidence in my playing. The music I chose helped me play in different genres and develop new creative skills. Over the time I was practising for the exam I could see how much progress I was making week after week.
How has participating in a Rock and Pop qualification impacted your artistic skills or career development?
Learning drums and percussion has helped me improve across the whole of my school life. I have found that playing music to this level has helped me to be more focussed in my school lessons and is a good stress reliever at the end of the school day.
What's next for you?
Junior Conservatoires with a view to possibly auditioning for next year. I would like to be a musician.
Have you got any advice for other young people working towards a Rock and Pop qualification?
Practice!! If you work on everything slowly it really helps you get better quickly. Breaking pieces down into little sections helps you focus on achieving something positive every day/ week.
