Here at Voice, we believe there’s no better way to begin a new year and a new decade than by challenging yourself and getting involved in some real art activities. That’s why we’re inviting our readers to have a go at the #20in20 challenge. We hope that you’ll go out and find or engage in 20 new art and cultural experiences over 20 weeks. That’s one new experience a week, every week until the end of May. Sound like your kind of game?
A new experience
What better way to get started on your #20in20 activities than to experience something completely new? This doesn’t necessarily mean you should take up mountain-biking or decide to break the World Record for the most origami cranes made in 2 minutes (but we’re not ruling these out, of course). We would simply like to know - what have you always wanted to try?
We want to get you thinking about the possibilities. The New Year is a great time to embrace the unknown. This could be anything from reading a new novel to cooking a special meal for friends. Is there a particular exhibition at a gallery you’ve been waiting to see, or a live music performance which is coming up soon? Whatever your new experience, we would love to find out more and help the Voice community kick start their 2020.
Why you should get involved
We hope that not only will you be encouraged to go out and embrace whatever new activity you have identified, perhaps you’ll be inspired by other people too.
Writing a quick blog or capturing a moment through photography can be cathartic when turning your thoughts into something tangible. Whilst January can be a somewhat drab month in the UK - it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of new experiences to get involved with that don’t involve bright sunshine!
If you’re after some inspiration, visit this Pinterest page for arts and crafts, get the Voice low-down on unmissable Albums and Films, or head to this BBC guide to discover the best shows coming up in 2020.
