They take us to a different world and help us to relax from day to day life. Movies in general, affect our society in the following ways.

During the past few years, our film industry has grown and has developed with a pace, like never before. The current competitive world keeps us engaged with fulfilling our duties and achieving our life-goals and due to such hectic lifestyle; we have a strong need for mental relaxation. Movies are the cheapest and simplest mode of enjoyment. Apart from being highly entertaining, watching movies also helps us de-stress and forget the work-related troubles. Listening to our favorite music on headphones from a particular movie can uplift our mood.

Brings Families Closer

Movies give us a chance to engross ourselves in a different world for a short period of time. Watching your old home videos with your family and friends is a great fun. Watching recorded home movies from your birthdays and other special events like weddings with your family, can very well trigger feelings like nostalgia and you can relive the special memories that you adore.

Reflection of the Society

Movies are the reflection of what society wants. A movie becomes successful when it imitates or represents the desire of the viewing public. People watch what they find interesting and engaging.

At the same time, movies influence our society as well. For example, when a fashion is introduced in a film it is adopted by the society.

Historical movies are like history lessons to the audience as they give information about the ancient times and their lifestyle. On the other hand, a classical movie educates us about classic arts and lifestyle. These entertaining movies usually help us enhance our knowledge about different things and work as a source of information for the students in their research work.

Apart from being, entertaining and educational, films have a great commercial value as well. Films industry provides direct or indirect employment to millions of men and women.

Moreover, it is a good and easy way of advertisement. Nowadays, companies pay a good amount of money for their products and articles to appear in movies. This method of advertisement is very popular and works because people see the big film stars using these products, and then they imitate them.

Negative Impact

Although, movies are a great source of information and powerful way of entertainment, watching too much movies is injurious to health, eyesight and pocket.

Also, poorly produced movies may leave a very bad impact on the minds of youth. They can give rise to different types of crimes by showing unnecessary violence and obscenity. Watching too many of such movies with a lot of focus on violence and mature subject matter might influence the viewers. If left unchecked, such movies might affect the moral character of our young generation in a bad way. Such type of movies should be properly rated by Censor board so that they are not easily viewed by the young audience or should be banned completely.

In short, films have an enormous capacity to impact our society, both positively and negatively. Hence, it is the moral duty of any film maker, to select good stories and make inspiring films that leave a positive impact on the society.
