Nationwide student strike for climate – in pictures
Voice caught up with the march in London on Friday as thousands of students ditched classes to protest political inaction over climate change
A young activists hangs from a lamp post in Westminster's Parliament Square, London. Organisers Youth Strike 4 Climate 15,000 people took part in the protests nationwide. The action comes as part of a wider global movement, known as Schools 4 Climate Action.
"Don't bother writing a will": Students occupy Ivor Roberts-Jones' bronze sculpture of Winston Churchill. Last year Churchill's grandson, Sir Nicholas Soames, said that the former British prime minister would have supported action against climate change.
Protesters halt traffic in Parliament Square. There were three arrests in London in connection with the protests: A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl for obstructing the highway; a 17-year-old boy for a public order offence.
