  • Pac-Man was made 22nd May 1980 by an inventor called Toru Iwatani.
  • The original Pac-Man design was based on a pizza with a single slice cut off. As for Pac-Man's yellow colour, it was decided upon because it was thought that yellow as a peaceful and neutralcolour.
  • The four ghosts in Pac-Man are programmed to act differently: red chases you, pink just tries to position itself in a set way, blue tries to ambush you and orange is random. The red ghost is called Shadow and nicknamed "Blinky." The pink ghost is called Speedy and nicknamed "Pinky." The blue ghost is called Bashful and nicknamed "Inky." The orange ghost is called Pokey and nicknamed Clyde.
  • It has been reported that 94 percent of Americans recognise Pac-Man. In fact, in 2010, the Guinness World Records named him as theMost Recognized Video Game Character. And that's not the first Guinness Record Pac-Man has under his belt. In 2005, he was also named Most Successful Coin-Operated Game.
  • Pac-Man was fist known as 'Pakkuman', debuting in the Japanese version of the game. The name was derived from a Japanese folk hero called 'paku', famous for his hunger. For the English launch, they changed the name from Pac-man to Punk Man, but later it got changed because people were concerned with the name.
