GE17: Hands off my Human Rights

Human Rights protect us all - changing them is the first step down a slippery slope to a dystopian nightmare.

GE17: Hands off my Human Rights

In a last-minute campaign effort before the vote, May implied that to fight terrorism, she may repeal the Human Rights Act. Many people seem unruffled by this, but we should be. The HRA, it protects us from torture and slavery, ensures we get a fair trial and gives us the right to liberty. Some think that 'as long as you aren't a terrorist you will be fine', but legally this isn't the case. These security laws don't just apply to terrorists - in the past journalists have been detained. This is the first step to threatening a free press, and after that, freedom of speech. Human Rights protect all of us, and they are integral to a free democracy.

Theresa May seems to have been really reckless with her campaign, with removing free school meals and causing more controversy with fox hunting. I really hope someone puts a finger on her.
