Tilly has been nominated by music teacher Mick Davis for passing her Grade 5 bass guitar. Tilly started studying for Trinity Rock and Pop Bass Guitar Grades on 07 November 2015. “She passed Grades 2, 3 and 4,” says Mick. “And then on 22 November, she took Grade 5 and passed. Four Grades in 3 years. Her work rate and dedication to improving her bass playing is exceptional.”
Tilly says that preparing for the Trinity music exams has pushed her to become a more confident person and performer. “My favourite part of the examination process is the anticipation building up towards the exam, it gives you a kind of rush like nothing else.”
Tilly’s advice to fellow Trinity students?
“The best thing to do is to take it slowly, don't rush yourself. I stand by the phrase ‘practice makes perfect.’ Mistakes aren't a bad thing; we wouldn't be human without them. The way I was taught to practice is: Pick out the part you're struggling with, repeat it until you've got it and put it back in the song. There's nothing you can't do if you put your mind to it.”
