Reserve your place for Nottingham Trent University's very first WRAP Live online event with award-winning novelist, poet and former Mostly Lit podcast host, Derek Owusu.

He'll be joining Becky Cullen – poet, researcher and WRAP Programme Manager – for a lively virtual dialogue about writers and writing, passions and poems, living, and loving, D.H Lawrence.

Published by Stormzy’s Merky Books, Derek’s debut novel That Reminds Me is a mesmerising read, exploring ideas of race, sexuality, mental health, religion and gender. It won the 2020 Desmond Elliott Prize. Derek is editor of Safe: On Black British Men Reclaiming Space, an anthology of essays described by Afua Hirsch as ‘not a book you read, but a book you witness’.

This event is completely free and open to everyone; students, staff and the general public.

WRAP is our new Writing, Reading and Pleasure project that is delivered as part Curated & Created, NTU's cultural programme.

WRAP offers a variety of activities for NTU students, including book groups, writing workshops, meetups and masterclasses, and a public programme of events. Derek Owusu is this term's WRAP featured writer and will be joining a number of our student and staff events this term.
