The Art of Programming

About this event

Starts: Thursday 30 January 2020 7:00 PM

Ends: Thursday 30 January 2020 10:00 PM

Organised by: Young People in the Arts

Festivals take place across a wide range of art forms - visual art, theatre, dance, literature, film. They are a unique environment for programmers as they can be an opportunity to take bold steps, reach audiences that might not attend conventional arts institutions and bring together unlikely pairings of work. At this event, questions surrounding festival programme will be asked, such as: how do arts programmers select the performances and pieces to show?

As part of Vault festival, join Young People in the Arts for a discussion about how arts festivals are put together and what’s needed to build an identity and brand across the festival programme.

Young People in the Arts will explore how current issues are tackled and what’s new in the field with a panel of arts festival programmers from across the sector:

  • India Crawford, Senior Producer and Arts Programme Manager at Brainchild Festival
  • Bec Martin-Williams, Head of Performance and Theatre at VAULT Festival
  • Stella Toonen, Arts Producer and PhD student at Tate and King's College London (chair)

Tickets cost £6.50 and can be booked here
