Synopsis: An adaptation of Holocaust victim Irène Némirovsky’s acclaimed bestseller discovered more than sixty years after her death. The film focuses on Dolce, the second of two completed parts of the novel and is set during the early years of Nazi occupation of a small French town in World War II, romance blooms between Lucile Angellier (Michelle Williams), a French villager, and Bruno von Falk (Matthias Schoenaerts), a German officer. More 1870 than 1940, the film explores the meaning of love, loyalty and collaboration.
