WaterBear, the college of music, is hosting an exclusive online music industry, artist development and opportunities event - ‘Plan Your Music Career in 30 Minutes”, with a stellar line up of special guest speakers.

The complimentary two-hour online session, taking place at 6pm on 1 December 2022, will offer an invaluable opportunity for talented musicians and aspiring artists to discover more about building a sustainable career in music. Attendees will join A&R (artist & repertoire) industry experts including Atlanta Cobb (Artist Manager for Becky Hill and Ella Henderson), Kieron Pepper (A&R at WaterBear and Drummer for The Prodigy), Lamour (DJ, Artist, and Manager), and Danny Rhys (A&R at Toolroom) for genre-specific insight sessions and Q&As, where experiences and in-depth expertise will be shared. Guests will also be invited to submit their music and be in with a chance to have it listened to and reviewed by one of the A&R professionals.

During the highly anticipated evening, those working towards a career in music will benefit from an industry led talk from BMG’s Licensing Manager Dan Earl, who will impart further knowledge. Self-motivated musicians, artists and producers will also have the opportunity throughout the virtual session to learn more about planning a music career, with an insight into flexible study options and WaterBear’s pioneering Online BA (Hons) programmes starting in January 2023.

The event follows hot on the heels of a number of considerable triumphs for the college as it celebrates the achievements of its students and the development of further innovative industry partnerships. Most recently and significantly, Nev Scott a mature student at WaterBear who studies BA (Hons) Electronic Music (online), secured major success as he was signed by Toolroom Records, one of the world’s innovative dance music brands which the college is partnered with.

Music education pioneer and WaterBear’s Co-Founder Adam Bushell commented, “We are thrilled to soon be hosting our artist development and opportunities event – it offers a fantastic prospect for individuals looking to progress in the music industry, allowing them to gain valuable insight, feedback and expertise from our esteemed industry partners. We are proud of our collaborations with some of the biggest names and organisations in music to bring unrivalled opportunities and advice, enabling our students to learn directly from inside the music industry.

Dan Earl of BMG spoke of the upcoming event and said, “I'm very excited to be talking at the WaterBear online event ‘Plan Your Music Career in 30 Minutes’, I'm a big supporter of the work they are doing at WaterBear to help young people develop the skills they need to enjoy successful careers in the music industry."

Adam Bushell continued, “Our ethos at WaterBear is all about the individual, DIY artist, and the development of that individual’s artistry and skills. It’s about giving our students the tools to help build a long-term resilient and sustainable career in music, on their own terms, and making that as accessible as we can for them. With the current cost of living crisis in mind and taking into consideration the accelerated two-year course time, there are huge benefits afforded by online study with WaterBear, including the flexibility to fit learning around full-time jobs and family life.”
