Ahead of the release of his upcoming EP, Jamie Hannah's new single 'Sound of My Youth' has given us a snippet of what we can expect from this young artist moving forward. The track, with it's poignant lyricism and emotionally charged sentiment, showcases the true extent of Jamie Hannah's vocal range as well as the poignancy of his songwriting.
Having been classically trained in Opera at The Royal College of Music, it wasn't long before Jamie Hannah began to attract the attention of some of the industries biggest taste makers, such as Both Boy George and Benny D. Having spent 2018 writing and producing with them both in the studio, 2019 with see the release of Boy George and Jamie Hannah's collaborative track 'House of Truth' which has been coined a 'big summer smash' but Boy George himself.
‘The Sound Of My Youth’, Jamie Hannah's first release from the EP, is a nostalgic look back at the protagonists first love, as they unpick why they can't seem to gain closure from the relationship. “Crying out for sunshine // still excepting rain” sings Jamie in the first verse, and explains the post-breakup melancholic attitude that is familiar to so many of us.
As well as impressing Boy George, Jamie Hannah has even got the seal of approval from Oscar Winning actress Dame Emma Thompson, who, after hearing ‘Sound of My Youth’ declared that: “The potential in this young artist is breath-taking. This song is sensational, spectacular and wonderful.”
