UNIT 2: Part C&D -Tempest 10 shot film, 1st Discussions & Thoughts on Props/Sound

This blog post shows how I have started thinking about staging my 'One-Boy Tempest Re-Worked' film.

Because I read and studied the Tempest as part of my Unit 1 work, I know it quite well. Me and my mum sat down and went through which bits to keep and use in the final film. We then started to think about the practicalities, and what props I'd need to include. I used my Young Film Academy course notes to decide on the cast and crew.(photo here in blog) We looked online for some ideas for props including an island back-drop and stuff to help show me changing from Prospero into Miranda and Ariel and so on. The Young Film Academy Course suggests making a 1 minute long film, but we want to include other actors to show that I can work with others, so my film will probably be 2 or 3 minutes in total.

We've realised because there's no dialogue there will need to be lots of props and sound effects to make the story more obvious.

We decided to use Prosperos last speech as a way of bringing in other 'talking heads' of actors I will film individually speaking a line each from the final speech. I will then read the very last line. We thought this would also be good, as the last bit of the play is all about adressing the audience and asking for forgiveness. So, in a way Prospero merges with all those other people to deliver his speech in multi-voices. I have chosen 5 people to film a line each.

I am having to make a lot of decisions and plan, which is all good for my leadership aims.
