You studied at Kent College, where notable alumni like Guy Berryman and Mimi Webb also attended. How did your time there shape your growth as an artist?
Kent College was an amazing school, and I am forever grateful for their support and also their belief in me. All of the teachers would always say “ One day you’re going to be BIG livvy, and we’re going to come along to your shows” which was so so lovely to hear… especially from teachers who were all about the more academic lessons. I had a great relationship with my drama and music teachers, mainly because I showed up to absolutely everything that I could get myself involved in.. I loved it, and they could 100% see my commitment to the arts! I had a scholarship there in Music and Drama which was also great! I got myself involved in plays, musicals, choirs, operas, classical concerts, band nights and so much more! It was great!
What are your main musical influences?
I love so many styles of music and different artists, I don’t have one particular influence!! Whenever I write, I take inspiration from the artists that I love that are smashing the game right now (IE, Tate McCrae, Becky Hill, Raye, Tyler)!
You’ve mentioned your desire to write songs that uplift, which is showcased in singles ‘Felt Love’ and ‘Another Sad Song’. Can we expect a similar vibe from your upcoming music?
Yes, I think my music 90% of the time has an uplifting element to it! My next single isn’t as “uplifting’ but definitely more intense and should make listeners want to sing along and feel super energised!!
Artists like Tate McRae and Doja Cat inspire your performance. What is it about their style or energy that resonates with you?
I absolutely love artists who PERFORM on stage! I think it is great having a lovely voice, and being a good writer etc etc but for me performance is everything!! (I probably feel this way from my training in Musical Theatre). Whenever I am scrolling through Tiktok, or watching an artist live, I feel so music more captivated by artists who dance, show strong facial expressions or move their bodies whilst on stage! Music has meaning, and often if you’re in a big crowd and you’re watching a singer sing something but can’t really see their facial expressions… moving around the stage etc can portray this better!
You aim to bring an electrifying stage presence into your music. How do you prepare for live performances to make sure they match the energy of your tracks?
I always feel buzzed with adrenaline anyway before going on stage, so I never have to worry about getting my energy up!! But normally backstage I shake my body a little, and do little jogs on the spot so that when I run on, I am fully already in that energised moment.
When writing a new song, what does your creative process look like?
Typically when I am writing new music, I like to get the chords down first… and the ones that match my mood! Once I have found the right chord progression I then just start singing random stuff over the top of it! When a melody line that comes out sounds exciting, I voice note it and come back to it later. Usually when I do this, the lyrics just form themselves, based on how I am feeling that day or what is going on in my life at that time! It all just sort of builds from there.
You teased more exciting releases ahead. Can you give us any hints about what’s coming next?
My next single is a little different to the stuff that I have released before! I am really excited about this next one, as I loved writing it, and feel like it really matches my ADHD brain perfectly! It has a lot of highs and a lot of lows!
