*Note: This article contains mild spoilers for The Traitors episode 10.*
In last night's episode of BBC's The Traitors, we witnessed the players undergo a 3D game of chess, trying to answer the questions about members of the group as a Traitor would have done. This produced fiery outbursts from some players, while others were stunned into disbelief at the results, and it ultimately proved to be the downfall for one Traitor as she led Frankie to suspect her through an answer she gave.
However, today I thought I'd replicate this mission, but answering questions from a viewer's perspective about all the key points from The Traitors season three cast members as we draw near the end of this series.
Who is the most impulsive?
There's a few contenders for winning this title, with the first banished Traitor Armani high up the list due to her rather outgoing tactics of always speaking her mind, and usually saying the first thing that came into her head, even if that led to chucking a fellow Traitor's name out at the round table. Another strong contender would be Jake, who began gunning for Linda pretty much the second that Claudia picked the Traitors, and has since come up with many weaker theories. However, he never stands down from backing himself even if he only thinks of an idea in the spur of the moment.
But the winner of this category for me is Leanne. Whenever anyone has even mildly accused her of anything, she immediately jumps on their back and has absolutely no problem in speaking her mind, whether that be at round tables or during the day, in one-on-ones or a group setting, and usually, once hearing her name, quickly sees red.
Who is the most perceptive?
With Jake and Freddie both having led the way in banishing two Traitors, they might seem like ideal candidates for this title, but the clear winner for me is Fozia. Fozia wasn't around for many episodes, but as soon as she arrived she quickly picked up the group's behaviour towards Kasim, airing her views at her very first round table even when she wasn't allowed to vote herself, along with immediately sussing out Linda. When it comes to being perceptive, Fozia beats all.
Who is the fans' favourite?
I've seen so many people hyping up both Alexander and Minah, as well as Dan being surprisingly popular even with his selfish gameplay (still, you've gotta do what you've gotta do) but the clear winner of this for me is Freddie. He is truly a man of the people, having racked up over 55K followers on Instagram over the past few weeks due to his appearance in the show.
Furthermore, he lands us with a gift of incredible one-liners pretty much every episode – whether it be calling out the clique (sorry, click), begging Joe to be allowed to join his 'click', ruthlessly gunning for Minah all episode, taking Claudia's role during the game of chess to remind people that a Traitor (namely Minah) could still put themselves forward as an answer, or his devastated reaction to being recruited with the line 'I actually hate this game so much', Freddie has provided us with stellar viewing all the way through this season. Not to mention 'who's Columbo' (yeah, I totally had no idea either Freddie) or saying he wished the whole team failed the rowing mission once he'd sacrificed himself on the raft (couldn't be a more relatable feeling, let's be honest, we all wanted them to fail after that).
Who is the best team player?
Alexander would be high up my list, almost single-handedly carrying the team during the statues mission, as well as actually contributing credible theories throughout the round tables, and trying to hear everyone's views before making a decision, plus getting off the train during the first episode. Kasim would also be a strong candidate, as he never really did anything wrong apart from being a nice person to get himself banished. However, the winner of this round for me is Maia, who wasn't given that long to prove herself, but in the short time she was kept alive she got her own sister banished, and sacrificed herself during the rowing mission, which ultimately became her downfall.
Who is the worst actor?
This is a two way battle between Leon and Linda, with Leon's facial expressions during the death match clearly giving the game away, but I don't think we can actually hand this category over to him after Linda's breakfast time antics in the aftermath of Livi's departure. They were truly sensational, but completely obvious, and the fact she survived a whole other day after that performance will never cease to amaze me.
Who has the best gameplan?
Minah would have been high on my list until last week, when unfortunately everything fell apart for her due to narrowing her recruitment options solely to a female – a fatal error. But apparently females don't backstab each other...that aged well. I've got to give Keith a mandatory mention here – he wasn't around long enough to even discover what his gameplan was, but I'm sure it would have been amazing, possibly even better than his karate skills. Freddie would be coming in at my second place position, as I think it was a really wise move not to disclose any possible names to anyone until feeling sure that he knew who the Traitors were, which ultimately proved to be successful.
However, I suppose the winner for this category has to be Charlotte, as even though I dislike her gameplan, she's playing well, recruiting who she needs to to chuck under the bus, and turning on people when their time is inevitably up – playing like a true Traitor.
Who is the best liar?
Dan would be a good pick for this round as he literally mentioned during the first episode that he'd already met multiple people he would have no problem in killing, and yet, despite all the eye rolls, we never saw this venom actively carried out, and he seemed to get on well with all from a viewer's perspective. Charlotte has to take all for this though, as lying 24/7 about your accent is just unbeatable, and how she sustains that all day every day I will never know.
Who speaks with the most clarity at round tables?
This is our final question, and I truly feel like Elen could have won this had she stayed in longer, because she seemed to present her opinions clearly, unfortunately not persuasively enough. Due to having seen more of him carry this out, the winner for me is Alexander, who gets his points across extremely well, always remaining calm and polite, yet speaking so much sense throughout.
The Traitors final is airing at 8:30pm on Friday 24th January on BBC One.
Let me know who you would have picked to win each category in the comments below.
This is such a good idea for an article! I think we have to consider Freddie as a potential choice for worst actor given his truly dreadful performance as a traitor.
I want nothing but great things for Alexander. He's my people's champion and is absolutely playing the game the right way, just the right balance of helping the team and individual tactics.
