My Arts Award Explore - Seb Maxwell

This is my summary of the Art Award Explore

My Arts Award Explore - Seb Maxwell

We made canotypes which looked like blueprints. You put objects on special paper and then leave it out in the sun. When you bring it indoors and remove the objects you are left with space where the paper didn’t expose which gives a nice effect, like a primitive photograph.

We spent some time with Nick Ashton who is an artist who makes cartoons. He uses ProCreate on an iPad which is the same programme I use at home. We made our own characters and discussed their super powers and visited his studio.

We saw other artists in their studios too. I like the Nucleas Arts Centre which is a very cool and exciting place. It brings together different artists in one community and in the middle of a busy town. It is very inspiring. It has a cafe and a gallery too.

I was going to make a dragon mask but it didn’t go very well so I changed my project. I’ve always loved making models out of paper and my Mum broke her leg so I made her a wheelchair out of paper to cheer her up. I enjoyed making it so much that I made a bike and some guns and I just couldn’t stop! If you roll the paper into tubes they are really light and quite strong and you can make anything.
