My explore experience - Silas Maxwell

This is the summary of my Arts Award Explore course.

My explore experience - Silas Maxwell

For my Art award Explore I made a Canotype which is where you put an object on special paper and leave it out in the sun then it leaves an imprint like a suntan, except it is blue.

The next thing we did was make a cartoon character where we had to explain the origins, their super powers and what they looked like. We worked with Nick Ashton who is a professional artist. We got to see where he works and discussed the methods he uses and the projects he was working on.

We also got to see other Artists to discuss their work - Jon Gubby a painter who uses a palate knife instead of a brush and Sian Boswick a jeweller who does custom projects using titanium, silver and gold and she electrifies the titanium to change the colour and makes it look very cool.

My final art piece was inspired by a famous artist Jackson Pollock who used a splatter painting technique. Mine was different as I used masking tape to block off areas and then peeled it off leaving white space in amongst the splatters. I liked how it turned out.
