Dean Lewis - Hurtless

Dean Lewis returns with his brand of soulful, heartfelt yet heartbreaking pop. With its dark undertones, ‘Hurtless’ signals the breakdown of a relationship. Evocative lyricism adds depth to the story with lines such as “standing in the rain in your black dress”. Lewis says this lyric in particular “represents the funeral of the relationship”. The track starts with simple piano notes that add a haunting quality to the first verse. As the track progresses, layers start to blend together creating an emotional background for Lewis’ passionate vocals. The chorus ensures the catchy, powerful performance that has gained Dean Lewis fans all over the world. Hurtless is the epitome of a heartbreak anthem.

modernlove. - Don’t Wanna

An ambitious cross between The 1975 and Crystal Tides, ‘Don’t Wanna’ is sure to be your new summer obsession. Irish quartet, modernlove. are a band you need in your playlist right now. ‘Don’t Wanna’ is crammed with 80s pop chords and blatantly romantic lyrics that are giving Matty Healy a solid run for his money. The track encapsulates all the great things about pop such as synths, blasting guitar solos and easily remembered lines that are destined for bigger things. If you love all things indie pop rock you can’t afford to be missing this band right now!

Midnight rodeo - Now You’re Gone

An exciting blend of shoegaze, country and rock ‘Now You’re Gone’ is the new single from Nottingham outfit Midnight Rodeo. This mind bending track, takes influences from the likes of Pink Floyd to create a woozy, dramatical sound. Reminiscent of stadium rock bands and lonesome country singers, ‘Now You’re Gone’ draws the listener into a world of their own. The huge guitar solos paired alongside a whimsical vocal performance transforms the track into a kaleidoscope of sounds outputting visual imagery into the mind of the listener. Talking about the track, they said “‘Now You're Gone’ laments the sometimes frustratingly ephemeral nature of life, and the futility of "chasing a time that we know is over."

Kitty Perrin - Nothing Bad About Me

Norwich newcomer Kitty Perrin’s track ‘Nothing Bad About Me’ is a melodic exploration of an abusive relationship that is holding you down. Lines such as “I don’t know what I’m like anymore” present a heart-shattering yet truthful look at how abuse affects your view of yourself. Despite this, the track also has an undertone of empowerment around sticking up for yourself and knowing you deserve better. Melodically the track has minimal backing, with an easy bass line and soothing guitar. For this song Kitty’s peaceful yet confident vocal takes centre stage in a brilliant show of pop music.

M Feild - Block Universe

Block Universe is the new single from M Feild. Hailing from CapeTown the songwriter is carving out his own genre entirely. If Vampire Weekend made a track for a Disney film then I'm almost certain it would sound like Block Universe. Ladened with plucky guitar strings and musical shifts that catch you entirely off guard, finished with an upbeat spring ending, Block Universe is the ideal pic and mix. M Field has created a soothing summer tune that incorporates sounds from multiple genres.
