Arts Award on Voice

The Porthmeor Young Artists Exhibition and Competition was aimed at promoting the work of up and coming young Cornish Artists. It was organised by the St Ives School of Painting and hosted in the prestigious Penwith Gallery culminating in the prize giving on 5th April 2019.

Young Art Cornwall was a competition to promote the talent of young Cornish artists, while raising money for Cancer Research UK. The exhibition of the short-listed and award winning artworks took place at the Tate Gallery in St Ives between the 6th and the 9th of December 2018.

Dead Dog in a Suitcase is a story that has been adapted for the stage by Carl Grose, the original story (The Beggar’s Opera) by John Gay. 

When Mayor Goodman and his dog are assassinated, they leave a lot behind. A miserable widow, an empty suitcase and the pressing need for a new mayor. Which is where Les Peachum and his wife step in, but not necessarily with good intent. But things only get worse when their daughter, Pretty Polly Peachum, marries contract killer Macheath which Mr and Mrs Peachum are not happy about at all.

Billie Eilish is a 17 year old pop singer/songwriter who started writing her songs at the age of 13 and by the age of 15 had one of her songs no.1 in the charts ‘ocean eyes’

I attended the Sketchbook Workshop at the National Art Gallery. This workshop is unique because here the artist takes you around four famous artwork and talks about not only the painting but also the background story behind the work & probably the state of mind of the artist. Normally, you would focus on the full painting but in this workshop, we only focused on specific objects and reasons why the artist painted it.
