Happy New Year! What's in store for 2016? Changing the world of course…

Well, time flies when you're having fun, especially when you're an apprentice. Since the last blog, I've handled more responsibility, whilst learning and fully appreciating the world of work!

This December we asked you to pick your favourite arts since Arts Award began in 2005! Today, we reveal Banksy as the best visual artist.

When the weather is cold, the fire is burning and you've had too many mince pies, what better winter activity than to curl up with a festive read? Turn off the TV and pick up on of these Christmassy books, all you need to do is make the hot chocolate!

Since the early 19th century, Western culture has depicted male ballet dancers as weak, effeminate or homosexual. Studies have shown that teenagers in particular can have a highly stereotypical view of gender-specific sports, and these views make people less confident in breaking out of their shell and indulging in activities or arts that are seen as 'effeminate' or 'manly'.

Dan Ponting was part of Arts Award's Gold pilot scheme over ten years ago. He has since completed a Fine Art degree, had work shown in Tate Modern and won a Royal Photographic Society competition. He currently works as a graphic designer.

We're excited to announce that thanks to funding from Norfolk Community Foundation, The Taylor Hammond Foundation and Diss Town Council we are recruiting a team of young people from South Norfolk to train in running events and who will be spear heading #dissfest with us in 2016! Their first event is set for March as a warm up to the weekend festival.

It's not just the endless remakes and sequels that are giving you a sense of filmic deja-vu, many films follow tried and tested formulas. First up, it's marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Spectre.

From the archive: I think it's fair to say Christmas isn't all fun and games when it comes to films.

18-year-old Noah Altshuler works as playwright-in-residence at the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Connecticut. An enormous Twain fan, the young writer has produced a set of three short plays based on the popular novel Tom Sawyer, published in 1876 and based largely on Twain's own youth.
